In a show of support for the Wounded Warriors Weekend, for July 21-30, the City of Lloydminster has temporarily renamed 49 Avenue as ‘Veteran’s Way.’

“The City of Lloydminster is proud to join the Wounded Warriors in supporting Canada’s ill and injured Armed Forces members, Veterans and First Responders who face mental and physical adversity in the months and years following their service to this country,” said Mayor Aalbers.

“We are honoured that Lloydminster was chosen to host the Wounded Warriors Weekend and we’d like residents to join us in providing a special welcome on July 27.”

The Wounded Warrior Convoy will arrive in Lloydminster the evening of Thursday, July 27, escorted by members the Lloydminster RCMP and City Peace Officers.

Residents are encouraged to congregate at the corner of 59 Avenue and College Drive at 8 p.m. – directly in front of the Lakeland College entrance – to cheer on the Wounded Warrior guests as they arrive.

In addition to temporarily renaming 49 Avenue, Lloydminster City Council has proclaimed the weekend of July 27-30, 2017 as ‘Wounded Warriors Weekend.’
