The streak continues for the Lloydminster Tanroc Bobcats.
After beating the Calgary Northstars 4-2 Saturday afternoon, the ‘Cats used a late goal to draw even and tie the UFA Bisons 2-2 Sunday at the Civic Centre to extend their undefeated streak to eight games.
“It was really good. We beat them (Bisons) 7-1, they just got beat pretty bad by St. Albert Saturday, both teams are banged up and we knew we would get a lot different game than we did last time. They made some adjustments and did a good job of that,” Bobcats head coach, Kyle Tapp said. “We’re happy to steal a point in a game where we didn’t really deserve to win.”
The Bobcats needed a late goal with just under three minutes to tie the game and although they had a late chance to walk away with the win, Tapp said a game like this is a boost to his team.
“That’s the game. The one thing we have been preaching is habits and closing close games out and learning how to play in the last minutes of games,” he said.
“It was good to see some results that way, tying the game late and almost stealing both points by scoring the winner on the power play. It was good to see the character of this team.”
While the team closed out the weekend with a tie, Saturday, they picked up their fifth win of the season over the Northstars Sunday.
