FIVE IN A ROW

The Lloydminster Bobcats have gone from a team that couldn't sink any lower to one of the hottest teams in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in the span of two weeks.

All four local high school basketball teams are in action at Lloyd Comp this weekend for the annual Hugh Morrell Classic. The Source's Robb Fenton compiled a break down for each team. The tournament kicks off Friday morning. 

 

Two in a row for Bobcats

The Lloydminster Bobcats made it two in a row last night, downing the St. Albert Steel 3-1 at the Civic Centre. 

Captain Brody Foster scored the eventual game winner just under four minutes into the third. Brett Slobodzian provided the insurance marker with 3:15 to go as the Bobcats held on after Alex Perkins made it interesting late for the Steel, when he beat Garret Sheehan with just five minutes left.

Olympic team in town tonight

While it’s a unique opponent, it’s a big game for the Lloydminster Tanroc Bobcats.

The Bobcats are currently tied with the St. Albert Raiders for first place in the AMHL with a game in hand, a game they will make up when they take on the Canadian National Women’s Team tonight at the Civic Centre.

 Since the calendar switched to 2010, the Lloydminster Universal Heat have found their stride.

Rustler look to keep things rolling

 Things ended on a high note in 2009, at the end of the first semester, for the Lakeland Rustlers men’s volleyball team and they are hoping things continue when they kick off the second half of the season this weekend.

The Lloydminster Bandits ended 2009 losing two straight and on a bit of a slide.

It seems like things have turned around for them early in 2010.
