Curran introduces as new Bobcats' bench boss

It wasn’t an easy day Tuesday, but Wednesday the Lloydminster Bobcats were in much better spirits.

The team held a press conference to introduce new head coach and general manager, Brian Curran, who is stepping in to replace Tom Keca.
Curran won’t have a lot of time to prepare for his first game, as the ‘Cats head to Bonnyville Friday night, but despite that fact, he is ready for the challenge ahead.

Crosson looks back

With the dismissal of Tom Keca as Lloydminster Bobcats head coach and the announcement made Tuesday afternoon, the organization looked back at how Jim Crosson and Tom Keca turned the team around.

Crosson reflected on Keca and his time in charge.

Rustlers come up short against North's best

The Lakeland Rustlers women’s basketball team continues to stay close to the top teams the ACAC has to offer, but unfortunately close doesn’t result in wins.

Once again this past weekend the Rustlers hung tough, but dropped both games to the King’s Eagles; 61-53 at home Friday night and 62-54 in Edmonton Saturday.

Rustlers fly by Eagles

With everything that has gone on in the past few weeks with the Lakeland Rustlers men’s basketball team, two wins couldn’t have come at a better time.

The Rustlers, after switching head coaches and losing one of their top players, came out of this past weekend with two key wins against the King’s Eagles; Friday at home 80-75 and Saturday on the road, winning 90-68.

Groat clears the air

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but for Tom Groat, it was the right one.

Groat, who was in his second season as head coach of the Lakeland Rustlers men’s basketball team, has decided to walk away from the position just eight games into the 2009-2010 season.

Keca out, Curran in

It was a tough day for many in the Lloydminster Bobcats, but it was necessary.

The 'Cats announced Monday that Tom Keca was relieved of his duties as head coach and director of player personnel.

Bandits split weekend

It was a situation they hadn’t found themselves in for a long time.

The Lloydminster Bandits had to stop a mini two-game losing streak and they did just that Saturday night, hammering the St. Paul Canadiens 10-3 a night after falling 7-6 to the Saddle Lake Warriors.

Border Kings prove they belong

While it shows up as an overtime loss in the standings, it is a bit more to the Lloydminster Border Kings.

The Kings dropped a 3-2 decision in a shootout to the Stony Plain Eagles Sunday afternoon, but after suffering a 7-2 loss Saturday on the road, the results and effort have the team feeling pretty good.

Coaching change at Lakeland

This past weekend was the first that the Lakeland Rustlers men’s basketball team didn’t have former head coach, Tom Groat on the bench.

The news came as a surprise to the Rustlers athletic department, but they have moved on in order to finish the first semester and the rest of the season.
