It will likely be awhile before the Border City follows in the footsteps of Edmonton's latest smoking bylaw, according to the Lloydminster mayor.
The bylaw, passed in early April by Edmonton city council, bans smoking at playgrounds, sports fields and other outdoor facilities frequented by children in the capital city. Lloydminster mayor Jeff Mulligan said he expects other municipalities in Saskatchewan and Alberta to consider similar actions, but for him, there are some unanswered questions, specifically around enforcement.
